Are Keywords Still Important In Urls
Today we are going to cover a bit about keywords and how important they are to have or not have in your url. If your thinking about placing keywords in your url then your probably doing it for one purpose and one purpose only and that is to hopefully rank higher in the search engines, this is called search engine optimization.
Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing your website for better search engine positions and the search engines rank your website based on hundreds of different factors. Keywords in your url is just one factor and isn’t by far the most important factor to have or to worry about. For example some people will go out and buy there main keyword in there url, even if this is a factor its not an important one as you can buy any domain name you like and then create a page with the keyword there, this will also be displayed in the url and will also allow you to have a more professional looking domain name.
A couple of factors that you might want to pay more attention to is the quality of content on your site as well as your inbound link structure. content is very important as it gets users coming to your site and writing about it, if you have poor content then the chances are the users want share your link with anyone and post it on there blog or list of favourite sites. You inbound links also play a huge part in seo and this is where you should really focus most of your seo efforts once you have completed the basics etc.
As we are a link building and search engine optimization company we are going for the full hog optimizing are domain name and every page we create. One of the things to keep in mind is not to get too carried and over optimize your site as it will look unnatural and put some search engines off. We have been in the seo field for over 7 years and have found a nice balance which has helped to get thousands of sites ranking highly in google.
So to conclude, its not always a good idea to buy your keyword in your domain name from a users point of view but it doesn’t hurt to have it there for the search engines. If you don’t buy your keyword in your domain name then its not the end of the world by a long shot.
