You’ve probably heard the term social networking before but never realy known what it is so here’s my definition of social networking which might help you understand it a bit better.
Social networking is similar to what we do in the real world when we go out to a club, bar or social event, its a place where you interact with other people sharing the same interests. If your in the offline marketing field then socialising with clients helps to build contracts etc the same applies to other types of employment not just marketing. As the Internet has grown the majority of people now have access to the internet either from home, work or school making it a great way for people to interact with other from around the world.
A great example of a social networking site is facebook as it allows you to easily interact with others with a similar interest, most online companies have at-least one social networking account on facebook as it helps them to connect with potential customers and experts in there field.
Social networking is something that anyone can do, school kids are interacting with there classmates out of lessons to do with school work but just like anything good thing there are dangers to networking sites. The main danger is child grooming as pedophiles will go online and create an account making out there the same age as there victim and have similar interests in a bid to meet up with them. Places like facebook are getting better, its now being monitored by authorities but a big part of the monitoring is down to the parents. Every parent should monitor what there children does, and when i mean monitor I don’t mean stand over there shoulder the whole time but keep coming back and checking on them making sure there OK and asking what there up to. At the end of the day you could also check the Internet history just to make sure there not being exposed to anything they shouldn’t.
